Now that I’m beginning this new adventure, let me introduce myself! My name is Matt, I’m 34 (soon 35) years old and live in Haverhill, Massachusetts. I am married to a wonderful woman (Elizabeth/Liz) and we have two boys; Davis, who is soon to be eight and Tyrion, who just turned one.
I can say we are a very happy family, not perfect, but happy. Just like every family we have our bad or stressed moments, but I am very blessed to have them in my life. I will go on about that later, but since this is the introduction, I will move along.
Now for the reasons I decided to start this blog…… Continue Reading
An introduction to my family: my mother Nancy, my father Frank, my sister Stacey, her husband Steve, my nephew Patrick, my wife Liz, our son Davis (my step-son) and our other son Tyrion. Continue Reading
Thank you again for reading! This is long, so I hope you are comfortable!
As I mentioned before, my father is a touchy subject, so here it goes.
A few of good things I can say about him, he was always there, a good provider for the family and almost always went on vacations with us.
That’s pretty much the extent of the good.
Now for the bad..
Growing up was definitely fun! I can never complain about having a boring childhood, and I am very thankful for everything we got to do!
My neighborhood was great, it was the perfect place for kids.
We lived on a dead-end street, a cul-de-sac, which is a street that ends with a circular part to it. There were no limits to what we could play! It was perfect for kickball (we used mailboxes as bases), tag, bikes and anything else you could imagine!
The area had a good amount of kids, so we could always have descent size games for whatever we end coming up with. Everyone was friendly also, there were a lot of family activities going on. Continue Reading
High school, I loved it, and I didn’t.
I will say that high school was the starting point for where my life is today. Which, I assume, is the case for most people.
I have friends who say that freshman year of high school was the worst for them, luckily for me, it was one of the best! Continue Reading
Moving to New England from Florida was a big change for me, but has been worth it!
So why would I move from warm, sunny Florida to New England? Good question! Even though I’m sure you didn’t ask, I will explain anyways!
Don’t get me wrong, Florida is great! The beaches, palm trees, great golf courses and hot 80% of the time! There is nothing better than going swimming in a pool in the middle of November! Continue Reading
I can’t say I always wanted to be father.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no problems with kids. I like kids, just other people’s kids.
I found it easier that way, hang out with friends or family with their kids, have a great time and then they leave with their parent. It was the perfect set up! Continue Reading
There is never anything important going on in January.
The Christmas season is over. All the excitement and craziness of the holidays is over. January 1st people are tired from New Years celebrations.
January is just a boring, non-eventful month.
January 30th 2003 was supposed to be business as usual.
That day was supposed to be just a normal, cold January day.
It wasn’t. Continue Reading
Anger and hate are very powerful emotions..
“Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.”-Yoda (Star Wars) (I love Star Wars, so I had too!)
After my mom and aunts death I was full of anger and hate. I assume it may have been understandable, but it was no excuse for how I treated others. Continue Reading
POSSIBLE SPOILERS ABOUT LUCIFER
Liz and I just started watching the TV show Lucifer on HULU.
It is about, as the name suggests, Satan leaving Hell and living in Los Angeles. It is based off a comic book by DC.
It is a dark comedy starring Tom Ellis (Lucifer Morningstar), Lauren German (Chloe Decker), D.B. Woodside (Amenadial) and Kevin Alejandro (Dan). Continue Reading
Star Wars is the best!
My love for Star Wars is pretty up there on the list of things I love!
When I first saw the movies when I was a kid, I fell in love it right away. Of course I saw it in the order it was in then, Episode 4, 5, and 6, since they were the only ones out at the time and I would watch them as many times as I could.
Of course, being nine at the time, I didn’t fully appreciate the technology that went into it at the time they were made. I was nine, watching them on VHS, just enjoying the special effects. Continue Reading
I have always liked alcohol. What is there not to like about it? Ok, there are a lot of things to not like about it, but there are also some good things to like about it. Puts you in a good mood in social settings (most of the time), improves the social experience (again, most of the time) and it’s fun to watch others act like a fool (you get the point). Life has a funny way of telling you it wants you to change sometimes. And it’s not always in a good way. In my case it was a very bad day that woke me up to reality, and it was definitely a wake up call.
The weekend after Thanksgiving 2015 was supposed to be another normal weekend for my family and me. We had nothing special planned, except for setting up the Christmas tree, which we did on the weekend after Thanksgiving every year. Continue Reading
